One more year, one more win! We have now won trivia 10 out of the 20 years....not too bad! We almost missed the .500 mark though this time around. I can't remember a closer finish. Two teams tied for first and it came down to a sudden death question that Mike should have known but thankfully Leigh did! I suppose that is why they are the team captains!
Here is a team photo. And yes, I am wearing a Marty Werner t-shirt.

Ok, going to try to keep the momentum going with another update...
Elliot is getting more skilled at doing things- especially with the computer. I thought it was impressive when he was turning on his laptop to play his game, but in the past few weeks he has composed emails and even ordered a Dyson on Amazon! Good thing they have understanding customer service.
He still loves to say "kitty cat" and "hi," but now says "hi kitty." He has also said "bye bye" a bit lately, says "mama" and "dada" when he feels like it, and today he said "no!" to me when I was trying to get him to stop playing with my laptop power cord.
He still isn't walking but we know he's perfectly capable. A few times he's stood up and taken a step or two and then realized it, and sat down or grabbed onto something.
Not much is new...Jeff can tell you about space stuff if he wants. I have been pretty busy with school and video games so I haven't done anything really interesting lately! But I know everybody is here to see how Elliot is doing, so who cares, right?
Here is another old video we should have posted a long time ago:
After my mom put me on a guilt trip (non intentional!), I decided I better update the site. So, here is a long video of Elliot mastering his block stacking abilities to the tune of Metallica - Unforgiven, as a lullaby!

This is sort of a rhetorical question but here goes, does it pay to search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI)?
Of course it pays, what an amazing discovery it would be to find a signal from another world, right? What could be a bigger game-changer in human existence when/if we do find intelligent (or any life) out there? Imagine the implications in our thought, education, policies, and religion! I'm anything but an expert but I do think there is some validity in the famous Drake Equation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
Wouldn't we have to be rather egotistical to believe the we're the only "ones" out there? Based on the principle of mediocrity, there is nothing THAT special about earth, that is, unless you include specific religious faiths. If we take a step back though, and just examine actual evidence, there are clear-cut reasons we have life on earth; orbiting within the "habitable zone" of our star, being the biggest reason. Plate tectonics being another which gives the earth recycling properties that assist in temperature regulation. Still others, our atmosphere and magnetosphere. There are ~300 billion stars in our galaxy and it is widely accepted that there are close to the same number of galaxies. If we are fair, we won't multiply those numbers together to get an idea of how many planets could have life. Most galaxies aren't as big as our Milky Way, most planets don't lie in the habitable zone of their stars, etc. Regardless though, we're talking about a number (sextillion) with 21 zeros after it. Given those numbers, it is hard to believe there isn't some other forms life out there. Great, we just need to find it. Well, now the real problems arise....read more
