nofx

another few months go by and something cool enough finally happened to me worth posting. this past weekend, chris, agnes, and myself drove down to chicago for a fun filled NOFX weekend. we had a great time in chicago. I need to head back over there sometime, there is SO much to do there. I don't know why I was so suprised, it is the 3rd biggest city in the US. Anyway, back to NOFX, the show was so amazing. When we got there, we heard from a girl who had been at the early show (they played two that day) that they had played the decline. We were pretty bummed, thinking that there would be no way they would play the song again that night. Considering they haven't played the whole thing (18+ mins) in concert before this tour, we were sure we had missed a once in a lifetime chance. Anyway, they must have decided to learn the song (they complain about how hard it is to play) for the tour. I guess they almost had to learn it considering the name of the tour is, "the decline". Anyway, they come out on stage and chit chat a little and then fat mike says, "well, we are going to play this 18 min song for the 2nd time today." I looked over at chris and knew we were never going to forget this show. After the first song, the beauty quickly left the show. fat mike, made a wardrobe change (bra and little black panties) and they played classic nofx for the another hour. Songs that I can remember included: bob, linoleum, perfect government, murder the government, my heart is yearning and bottles to the ground (the only two songs we could have lived without), you're wrong, "chicago", franco unamerican, whoops, I 'od, dinasaurs will die and finished off with an encore performance of the brews. anyway, here are some pics from the weekend

ubuntu and starcraft

it's been a great few days for me. first of all, being done with school, I decided this past weekend to "clean off" my laptop and wipe all traces of anything related to school from its memory. after cleaning it up, i installed ubuntu on it. i've never heard of this particular linux distribution before but thought to myself, "well, I have so much time on my hands, maybe this time I can be successful with linux." Now, I have told myself something similar to this on many occasions and have never quite made through the initial setup, always getting frustrated and reverting back to evil windows (i just threw that in for the zero linux people who will be reading this). Anyway, after a couple rebuilds, I think I finally have some stuff working on this machine. I got my resolution up to 1920x1200 and wireless is even working. I have managed to get skype running on it so people who need to call me can still get through. ok, onto something a little bit more interesting. Allison and I just concluded a most wonderful game of starcraft. the game took a little 4 hours....but that isn't really what is important. What is worth mentioning is the fact that we took on and defeated 6 protoss comp players!! It was insane. The begining was pretty slow going with Allison joining me in my base while we just tried to survive. after a long while of getting some forces together, we took over Allison's original base and began to mass a large amount of troops....or I should say Allison did. I was in charge of defending both our bases with two groups of carriers and a buttload of arbiters (high templars really like to kill them). After a long time of Allison using her much proved uber-wraith technique and my experimentation using canons to form an impenetrable wall around the entire north section of big game hunters and then slowing branching out from the middle (i refer to this as the umbilical cord strategy), we cut off the life of the enemy and pounded them into submission....read more

visiting MN

I meant to say this last night, but I was having problems which caused Jeff and I to have problems with the site today. All is well now, though, and I can now update anytime I want.

I had an awesome time visiting Jeff (of course) and Jeff's family. I am so excited to move out there. I can't imagine how beautiful the area would be once there is snow there or when the "foliage" is alive. And yes, I want to paint it. I wouldn't have even thought about it before, but it was crazy to actually see the whole sky to the horizon without any buildings, mountains, or smog in the way. The thought of moving someplace so different is so exciting to me...even the weather seems exciting, although I am sure I wont' think it is so cool after awhile...er...I am sure I will think it is literally cool...but not fun to be in...but I was surprised that the cold was just that- cold. I guess when the only reason people give me to stay here is the weather, I thought it was something that would be beyond anything I could ever imagine and that it would alter my life completely....read more
